Projects
In April 2004 the then Lord Provosts of Glasgow, Councillor Liz Cameron, and Edinburgh, Councillor Lesley Hinds, agreed to launch a campaign which committed Scotland to extend its support for Malawi. The project would build on the work already undertaken by the University of Strathclyde, Bell College and Greater Glasgow NHS through their Malawi Millennium Project.
The aims of the Partnership are to focus, develop and extend the many existing links between the peoples of Scotland and Malawi and to foster and develop new links.
It is the intention of Glasgow City Council to encourage sustainable capacity building in the fields of health, education, water and sanitation and to undertake special projects aimed at breaking the poverty cycle, providing famine relief and improving the quality of the lives of the people of Malawi.
